Tracking Device for Seniors with Alzheimer’s/Dementia-Shoe implant

I just learned of a GPS tracking device that goes in a persons shoe.   Trade name Smart Sole, see http://www.gpssmartsole.com.

Here is a quote from one of the stakeholders; Andrew Carle, Executive-in-residence at George Mason University.

I believe the first production run has already sold out (there were many people on the wait list), but the next run should be manufactured by mid-February.

This technology can be a great option for keeping folks at home if the risk of wandering is the main issue otherwise.  The company just signed a pilot agreement with Jefferson Area Board on Aging to become the first Area Agency on Aging in the U.S. to utilize this for their clients.  Also signed with a Top 5 assisted living provider for same, beginning next month.
